CS Kuria acknowledges Uhuru for the success of Huduma Centers

Public Service CS Moses Kuria has praised Uhuru Kenyatta, the previous president, for making Huduma centers a reality.

Speaking during the Huduma Kenya tenth anniversary celebrations in Nakuru, Kuria said that it had taken a while for the movement to achieve its current level of success.

The Huduma Kenya initiative was developed to make it easier to provide a variety of government services in one location, known as a Huduma Center.

In 2013, Uhuru and then-Deputy William Ruto opened the inaugural Huduma Center Nairobi at the Teleposta Building in Nairobi.

Kuria stated that even after being implemented ten years ago, Huduma centers have not stopped being essential in changing the way public services are delivered.

The CS went on to say that in order to guarantee that the public receives government services, the administration intends to push Huduma Kenya even further.

Amos Gathecha of the PS State Department for Public Service, David Kones, the Deputy Governor of Nakuru County, and Benjamin Chilumo, the CEO of Huduma Kenya followed Kuria.

Fees at Huduma

Kuria faced harsh backlash from the public last month after he revealed that the government intended to charge for services at Huduma centers.

According to Kuria, the money would be used to support the establishment of 52 Huduma centers around the nation.

Kuria went on to explain that Huduma centers will be able to collect their revenues through the fees, which will relieve pressure on the exchequer.

But he disapproved of the statement, calling it a distortion of his intentions.

The Huduma Kenya initiative was developed to make it easier to provide a variety of government services in one location, known as a Huduma Center.

In order to make a variety of connected public services easily accessible to Kenyans, Huduma Kenya consolidates them into a single location, often even on the same level.
