CS Murokomen and Senator Cherargei Clash Over Tender Allocation

On Friday, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen got into a heated argument regarding road contracts.

These two are important allies of President William Ruto.

Regarding the senator’s previous statements that a contractor from his hometown ought to receive a county roads tender, the CS reprimanded Cherargei.

Speaking at the son’s funeral for Chesumei MP Paul Biego Polo, the CS stated that the government was allocating contracts in a fair manner, eliminating any possibility for tribalism.

Speaking during the funeral shortly before Murkomen spoke to the attendees, Cherargei emphasized that the decision to assign a road project to a local contractor would benefit the locals.

The CS was offended by the remarks and shot back when he stood up to continue, claiming that Cherargei’s philosophy was regressive and might eventually harm the community.

As long as they successfully carry out their allocated duties, Kenyans are free to work anywhere in the nation, according to the CS.

Cherargei and his governor, Stephen Sang, have fought over how to carry out the county agenda.

Nonetheless, the senator has been standing up for President William Ruto’s administration against criticism from the left.
