ODM MP kicked out of parliament after making remarks about Ruto

Tuesday afternoon in Parliament saw a contentious discussion among lawmakers on President William Ruto’s State of the Nation Address from last week.

After being expelled from the parliament due to comments he made about the Majority Leader, his deputy, and the Kenya Kwanza administration, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga found himself in hot water.

The lawmaker from Kilifi South criticized President William Ruto on the house floor, arguing that many of his statements were untrue.

Representatives who support Kenya Kwanza, such as Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Representative John Kiarie, stood up on point of order and demanded that the MP retract his comments or face expulsion from the house.

The first member to rise on a point of order accusing MP Chonga of using unparliamentary language was John Kiarie, the MP for Dagoretti South.

Shollei insisted that the MP take down his statement, but he refused, showing that his commands were unheeded.

However, MP Chonga said that his intentions were misinterpreted.

But Shollei disregarded his answer, saying that by restating what he was meant to retract, he had made it worse.

The next two sittings will be missed by the MP.
