Police own the gun confiscated from the dead Kasarani suspect

The police have a Ceska pistol that was found on a suspect slain on Sunday in Kasarani, Nairobi.

According to police, on May 27, 2023, a police officer in Gem, Siaya county, had his weapon stolen.

Originally loaded with 15, it only had two bullets when it was found on Sunday night.

The Ceska serial number F9665, according to the authorities, was taken from a police officer assigned to monitor the National Cereals and Produce Board facility in Yala town and who was employed by the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit in Gem.

After reporting that his gun was missing from under his sofa set, where he had stored it, the cop was subsequently taken into custody.

The weapon was sought after but in vain.

On October 8, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Duncan Ochieng Ndinya, was shot to death and the weapon was later discovered with him.

Before being murdered, he also shot four police officers, wounding them in the abdomen and legs.

Mohamed Amin, the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, stated that since July 31, 2023, the weapon has been connected to crimes in the counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, and Siaya.

The suspect’s girlfriend and three children, ages 11, 13, and 6, were saved during the altercation at the suspect’s home.

Amin went to see the detectives who had suffered wounds from chasing the heist suspects.

He said the assassinated suspect was one among several suspects who managed to flee a shooting on September 14 in which his three companions were killed and an AK-47 rifle was found after a thrilling police chase through the counties of Migori and Kisii.

The murder suspect who was shot dead in Kasarani on Sunday and a companion fled the scene.

The gang had boarded a TVS motorcycle during the drama in Kisii, believing it to be their mode of transportation to their intended destinations and escape, unaware of the imminent arrival of the ultimate justice.

After more than 60 kilometers of pursuit, detectives caught up with them and told them to halt in the Kisii’s Corner Mbaya region.

An AK-47, a magazine with 21 bullets, a Rambo dagger, a machete, and a TVS were found during the incident.

Amin stated on Sunday that they are pursuing a second suspect who is evading capture.

Amin claimed that detectives had improved operations to deal with crimes around the nation.
