The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Land Fraud investigators have charged Salesio Kaburu Jacob, the Deputy Director for Land Administration after he was implicated in a Ksh.4 billion land dispute between the County Government of Kwale and Lunga Lunga Ranching Company Ltd.
The DCI claims that although the 63,030-hectare property was originally registered under Lunga Lunga Ranching Company Ltd., the land was returned to the Kwale County Government in 2019 as a result of a decision made by the National Land Commission (NLC).
On March 11, 2023, the DCI’s investigations revealed Kaburu and his land broker counterpart Frankline Kamau Kamathi to be members of an infamous cartel at Arthi House Nairobi.
On Thursday, October 25, the two were charged with 16 counts of conspiracy to defraud, forgeries, and making of false documents at Kwale Law Courts where they were arraigned.
They entered not guilty pleas and were freed on a Ksh. 5 million and Ksh. 4.5 million bond, respectively, with no cash bail option and a surety of the same amount.
There will be another discussion of the case on November 9, 2023.
