TSC Cancels and Re-Advertises Vacancies for Principal Teacher Management Officer & CSOs; How to Apply

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a re-advertisement of vacancies for Principal Teacher Management Officers and Curriculum Support Officers.

TSC also announced the cancellation of eelier numerous vacancy posts for Principal Teacher Management Officers and Curriculum Support Officers.

The TSC had initially advertised 92 vacancies for the position of PTMO, which falls under Job Grade 7.

The job was aimed at individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution, or a Bachelor’s degree with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.

Moreover, candidates were required to have served satisfactorily as a Curriculum Support Officer for a minimum of three (3) years.

Qualifications Requirements

  1. Principal Teacher Management Officer, TSC Job Grade 7 (Advert No. 42/2023):

Reporting to the County Director, the Principal Teacher Management Officer is responsible for providing general administrative support, customer care, and data management for public institutions at TSC headquarters, County, and Sub-County offices.

Additionally, this officer is tasked with quality assurance for the teaching service. The requirements for this appointment are as follows:

  • Served satisfactorily as a Curriculum Support Officer for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution, or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

(Note: A Master’s degree in Education from a recognized institution will be an added advantage)

Curriculum Support Officer II, TSC Scale 10 – Regular (Advert No. 43/2023):

Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) will assess teachers’ needs, provide training and professional guidance, and evaluate learning outcomes, among other responsibilities.

They are also responsible for ensuring that teachers comply with set teaching standards, advising on career progression and professional development, monitoring teacher conduct and performance, and maintaining teacher management data.

The requirements for this appointment are as follows:

  • Served as a teacher in Job Grade C4 TSC Scale 9 (and above) for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution, or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized Institution.
  • Certificate in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

(Note: A Master’s degree in Education from a recognized institution will be an added advantage)

Curriculum Support Officer II, TSC Scale 10 – SNE (Advert No. 44/2023):

Similar to the regular CSO II position, Curriculum Support Officers under the Special Needs Education (SNE) category perform the same responsibilities.

The requirements for this appointment are as follows:

  • Served as a teacher in Job Grade C4 TSC Scale 9 (and above) for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution, or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized Institution.
  • Diploma in Special Needs Education (SNE).
  • Certificate in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

(Note: A Master’s degree in Education from a recognized institution will be an added advantage)

Curriculum Support Officer I, TSC Scale 11 (Advert No. 45/2023):

The responsibilities of Curriculum Support Officer I are similar to those of the CSOs mentioned earlier. The requirements for this appointment are as follows:

  • Served as a Curriculum Support Officer under TSC Scale 10 for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution, or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate in computer applications skills.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

(Note: A Master’s degree in Education from a recognized institution will be an added advantage)

How to Apply

Interested and eligible candidates should submit their applications online through the TSC Website at https://teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The deadline for applications is 1st August 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

During the interview process, candidates must produce the original National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates, and the appointment & designation letter to the current grade.

Successful candidates must present valid documents of Chapter 6 of the Constitution before any consideration for appointment.
